APAOC
October 2009 Meeting

Pre-Halloween Social Media Event

This evening’s meeting sponsor was XYZ Graphics.

The very charming Joe Takai of XYZ dazzled us with an interactive presentation which showcased the exceptional talent of this cutting-edge shop. XYZ is a creative support studio specializing in image creation and post production. They provide a unique combination of creative services ranging from photography, CGI and retouching all found under one roof.

Their specialty is embellishing subject matter made of hard surface and blunt edges (no skin or soft curves please). Particularly impressive were their simulated automobile models – taking last year’s model, layering on parts, accessories and color to bring it up to current specs.

Thank you XYZ for treating us to a wonderful meeting and to your cool swag. As print production specialists we were particularly impressed with the zipper-flip-book!

Our keynote speaker was WunderMarx|PR Co-founder Cara Stewart.

She inspired us with the simple fact that print advertising and collateral media will never become obsolete. They are still the basis of most communication strategies while marketing campaigns are now integrating social media strategy into the mix. Her firm prides itself on taking the lead on innovative methods to build their client’s brand, while advancing the role of corporate social responsibility.

Cara, our most stylish speaker to date, was very engaging as she shared slides and anecdotes to present information and compelling statistics. The most memorable slide stated “it took 39 years for Radio to reach 50M people and it only took Facebook less than 9 months to reach over 100M?” Anyone seeking to communicate with the masses should consider reaching out on a more personal level so make sure Social Media is a part of your business plan!
